GREENOVET - European VET Excellence Platform for Green Innovation

Project title: European VET Excellence Platform for Green Innovation

Acronym: GREENOVET

Geographic scope:

Austria (Styria)

Finland (Regional level)

North Macedonia (National level)

Portugal (Leiria district)

Lead partner: FH Joanneum, Graz, Austria

Summary:

The GREENOVet project will foster the development of Vocational Education and Training (VET) Excellence in Green Innovation across Europe enabling innovative, inclusive and sustainable economy. Furthermore, it will provide a platform to interconnect the European VET schools on regional, national and transnational level among them and with key partners in the local innovation and skills ecosystems.

This will be achieved through the establishment of Centres of Vocational Excellence (CoVEs) in 4 regions: Styria – Austria (with a focus on renewable energies), Leiria – Portugal (to be decided), Vaasa

– Finland (to be decided, and Skopje Region ‐ North Macedonia (to be decided). The CoVEs will focus the knowledge, resources and infrastructure of the key stakeholders into the development of skills ecosystems, contributing to regional development. The CoVEs will foster environmental, social and economic development in Europe, through green and sustainable innovation processes enabled by VET excellence.

Within the scope of the project, the CoVEs will develop capacities through trainings and study visits. More than 4 training programmes will be certified and offered to the stakeholders. In total, more than 40 teachers will be trained to provide excellence in teaching of both vocational and key competences and more than 8 projects with companies will be implemented. Thus, empowering VET graduates’ long‐term employability in the changing future labour market landscape through the development of an innovative, entrepreneurial and sustainable mind‐set.

Alongside the development of the CoVEs and their regional networks and the platform for interregional and transnational cooperation, assuring the sustainability of the entities is one of the top priorities of the project. During and after the project implementation, continuous evaluation and monitoring of the CoVEs’ processes, services and instruments as well as their implementation will be conducted.

Overall objectives:

  • To create European models of Excellence in VET through inter‐institutional Centres of Vocational Excellence which will foster sustainable partnership of upper‐secondary VET Schools, HEIs and Companies in the Green Tech Industry
  • To boost Green innovation in Europe
  • To develop European best practice strategies for collaboration among VET providers at EQF‐ Levels 4‐6 and Green technology
  • To foster environmental, social and economic development in Europe, through green and sustainable innovation processes enabled by VET excellence
  • To empower VET graduates’ long‐term (self‐)employability in the changing future labour market landscape through the development of an innovative, entrepreneurial and sustainable mind‐set.

Specific objectives: (to be merged and refined based on the finalised project)

To develop a sustainable cooperation platform of European Centres of Vocational Excellence (CoVEs) in Green Innovation.

  • To establish 4 fully functional and interconnected CoVEs in Green Innovation, embedded in the local innovation and skills ecosystems
  • To create 4 European regional model service centres for Green innovation
  • To enable Green tech projects conducted by students of secondary and tertiary education providers jointly and in interconnected VET scenarios
  • To provide an international cooperation and sharing platform of Vocational Excellence in Green Innovation among the key stakeholders
  • To interconnect the industry with VET providers on EQF levels 4‐6
  • To establish (and strengthen) innovative teaching methods and educational trends in VET through the CoVEs
  • To bring closer the green innovation opportunities to a broader public in Europe.
  • To foster the employability and entrepreneurial readiness of VET students, preparing them for, and connecting them with the labour market
  • To adapt the technical, pedagogical and didactical skills of VET teachers to the upcoming environmental, social and economic challenges
